Our Staff
Eric T.
Eric serves as the Office Manager for LPG, overseeing daily administrative and operational tasks. His duties include student scheduling, application processing, fingerprinting, student paperwork, and customer support both in person and online. Eric plays a vital role in ensuring a smooth, efficient experience for students pursuing security training and for clients requiring fingerprinting.
Eric has nearly 40 years of experience in the security and fingerprinting industry. His professional background includes security guard services, security management, and extensive experience performing both Live Scan and ink fingerprinting for a wide range of jobs, licenses, and permits. Throughout his career, he has helped thousands of individuals navigate the steps to become licensed security professionals or complete their required training.
Outside of work, Eric has a strong interest in reading, sociology, and current world events. He also enjoys several hobbies—which, as he likes to say, he’ll keep to himself.
Jack N.
Jack has nearly 20 years of experience in the security industry. His background includes working as a security officer at the San Francisco Zoo, serving as a security supervisor at multiple San Francisco hotels, and serving as both a site supervisor and a field supervisor at LPG (when the company had a guard services division).
Currently, Jack plays a key role in LPG’s training and fingerprinting operations. He manages Live Scan fingerprint processing and helps students obtain their security guard cards and complete other required security training. His strong customer service skills, field experience, and operational knowledge make him a trusted resource for students and clients navigating California’s licensing and training requirements.
Jason Q.
Jason holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Administration from San Diego State University. He has completed extensive education and academy training through SDSU, Imperial Valley College, and the South Bay Regional Public Safety Training Consortium Police Academy. His academic background includes coursework in conflict resolution, prejudice reduction, cultural competence, and community-focused problem-solving.
He has served 16 years as both a Police Officer and Federal Law Enforcement Officer, gaining broad experience in patrol, investigations, drug identification and evaluation, gang enforcement, and courtroom testimony. His career includes service as a Loss Prevention Manager for Target, where he investigated internal theft and fraud and supervised more than 190 employees; service as a Federal Law Enforcement Officer on an Indian Reservation with the U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs; and Police Officer assignments with two Police Departments in the Bay Area. He has served as a Firearms Instructor, Range Master, Field Training Officer, Drug Recognition Expert, gang expert, and Officer in Charge, and he participated in multiple deployments with the San Mateo County Gang Task Force. The San Mateo County courts also recognized him as a subject-matter expert in HS 11550 evaluations and HS 11377 identification.
In 2019, he joined Inter-Con Security Systems as a Cluster Training Manager, overseeing regional training for Amazon Web Services and developing curriculum based on client needs. He returned to law enforcement in 2021 and continues to serve as a Police Officer with a Bay Area police department.
In addition to his law enforcement career, Jason is an instructor with LPG, where he teaches security courses and provides firearms training as a BSIS-certified firearms instructor and range safety officer. His blend of academic training, federal and municipal law enforcement experience, and private-sector training expertise allows him to deliver practical, high-quality instruction to today’s security professionals.
Jim C.
Jim brings over 37 years of combined law enforcement and private security experience to LPG. He has served as a Guard Card Instructor with LPG for more than five years and previously worked for SMGI/GS3 and other security providers in the Bay Area, accumulating more than five years of professional security industry experience. Before entering the private security training field, Jim completed a distinguished 32-year law enforcement career in Contra Costa County. During his tenure, he held multiple instructor and specialized assignments, including Field Training Officer, Weaponless Defense Instructor, Impact Weapons Instructor, Taser Instructor, Detective, and Traffic Officer. Jim’s broad background in patrol operations, investigations, and defensive tactics training enables him to provide practical, real-world instruction that prepares students for the demands of today’s security industry.
John S.
John is a retired law enforcement officer with 23 years of dedicated service and has been a part-time instructor with LPG since 2011. His extensive public-safety background is complemented by experience working in multiple levels of private security, giving him a well-rounded understanding of both the law-enforcement and security industries.
He is certified by the NRA and the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) as a Range Master and Range Safety Officer, bringing a strong emphasis on safety, professionalism, and real-world application to every class he teaches.
In addition to his training expertise, John is an active leader with Scouting America, where he mentors youth in leadership, outdoor skills, and character development. Outside of work, he enjoys camping and woodworking, hobbies that reflect his hands-on approach and lifelong commitment to learning and teaching.
Marcus B.
Marcus is a highly respected Master Security Instructor at LPG with more than 16 years of specialized teaching experience and a distinguished background that spans military service, law enforcement, and private security leadership.
A combat veteran, Marcus carries forward the discipline, readiness, and tactical thinking he developed during his military career into every classroom he leads. Following his service, he spent 10 years in law enforcement, gaining firsthand experience in patrol operations, investigations, use-of-force decision-making, community interactions, and high-risk incident response.
With over 20 years of private security experience, Marcus has worked on a diverse range of assignments, including Loss Prevention & Asset Protection, Executive Protection for high-profile clients, Dignitary & Diplomatic Security, and Risk Assessment and Threat Mitigation. These roles allow him to bring real-world insights to today’s most pressing security challenges. Students consistently appreciate Marcus’s ability to translate complex, high-stakes situations into clear, practical training that directly improves their readiness and performance in the field.
Marcus’s commitment to professional growth, operational excellence, and instructor-level leadership has made him a valued member of LPG’s instructional team—recognized for his knowledge, calm teaching presence, and direct, experience-based approach to developing the next generation of security professionals.
Matt L.
Matt has over 30 years of experience in security, investigations, and law enforcement. Since 2004, Matt has worked as a police officer in the Bay Area, serving in patrol, as a Field Training Officer, Instructor, and in other specialized enforcement roles. Before co-founding LPG in 2006, he managed loss prevention and security operations for Sony Corporation of America and the Virgin Entertainment Group, overseeing executive protection, investigations, risk assessments, and event security.
Matt is certified by BSIS as a Firearms and Baton Instructor, a California DOJ Firearms Instructor, a Utah Concealed Firearm Instructor, and an NRA-credentialed Pistol Instructor, Range Safety Officer, and Law Enforcement Handgun Instructor. Matt is also POST-certified in baton instruction. He has served on statewide regulatory committees, including the BSIS Advisory Committee (2014–2018) and the Private Security Disciplinary Review Committee (appointed by Gov. Brown in 2018). Matt holds degrees in Administration of Justice and Organizational Leadership.
Phil C.
Phil is a certified NRA Pistol instructor, NRA Shotgun Instructor, NRA Rifle Instructor, Personal Protection In-Home Instructor, Refuse to be a Victim Instructor, and Range Safety Officer. He is also a certified BSIS Firearms Instructor, BSIS Baton Instructor, Taser Instructor, Pepper Spray Instructor, and Handcuffing Instructor. In addition, Phil has been involved with developing the Weapons of Mass Destruction curriculum as required by BSIS for the BSIS Guard Card Training and the BSIS Baton curriculum.
Phil is a retired Law Enforcement Officer and teaches as a Koga Police Tactics Instructor. He has been an instructor for over 30 years. He is also a member of the NRA (National Rifle Association), ILEETA (International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association), IALEFI (International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors), NLEFIA (National Law Enforcement Firearms Instructor Association), and CAPTO (California Association of Police Training Officers).
In addition to his law enforcement experience, Phil specializes in loss prevention, security, executive protection, and he is a college instructor in criminal justice. Phil also currently works as a private investigator.
